Maranello - Four days after the German Grand Prix obviously too long to go racing without being at a race track! So after coming home to Monaco on Sunday night I went to a place called Lonato, near Lake Garda in Italy to have fun karting. It's like a Formula 1 race here, there was Michael (Schumacher), Kubica, Glock, Liuzzi and Nelsinho (Piquet) and the Client. It wasn'ta special occasion, it was not even a race, we just decided to come here and have fun driving karts with 125 teeth. Think we all lose F1 test and this is a good way to keep fit and occupied. Thursday afternoon, I went to Maranello when I attended an event that involves driving some of our customers around the Fiorano race track.
Going back a few days into the German Grand Prix, was on the podium is a good feeling, but also a strange feeling at the same time and it was definitely something I've lost. In this difficult season because it marks a good improvement occurs within our team. In some races we have scored points again, always in the top five, so to perform even better and finish on the podium is good, not just for me, but also in terms of motivating each person in the team and the factory. This proves we are still struggling but it is important for us to continue to work.
Ferrari we are often asked why we should continue to use the KERS and if you see a helicopter shot of the race starts you will see that me and Kimi, and the two McLarens were in our own class, make a lot of ground from the line. The point is that if we do not have the downforce level to win, at least give us the benefit KERS in other ways. I was a good weekend in Germany and there are some surprising performances, there is good bad other teams and I think this is because, apart from the two top teams, they are so close that if you have a little problem or a lap that was not as good as properly, you can slide in the time sheets from five to fifteen.
After a day at Maranello, I'll go back home to Monaco and I will stay there until Wednesday when it will be time to go to Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix. I do not have a very good outcome of this race but that does not mean I do not race well there: if you remember last year I've won in my pocket, but unfortunately my engine let me down with just two laps to go. It's a nice circuit to drive even if it is not really my favorite one, but asked me how we'll get in this race and to be honest I really do not know. I hope we can continue to make our package improvements, bring in the same direction as in Germany
